What's the Catch : Beast Wars Tako Tank (タコタンク Tako Tanku)

This is the year 2018.
Date is 9th Jun.
Day is Saturday.

Been over a year since my last post as I am being lazy in post but actively posting over in Instagram, just like most collectors now.

But this is a day of surprise and worth my writing.

This is the day I found Tako !!! Tako Tank from Beast Wars of Japanese.

He is an octopus vehicle which I do not consider him as a transformer, rather he is a weapon.
From what I research, he is originally designed for Microman but end up in Transformers line of toy.

All MIB with replacement of window by seller in Japan.

Before I post pictures of this exciting find which I have been trying to hunt down for years at a reasonable price, here is the Beast Wars cartoon for you to enjoy the first appearance of Tako Tank and Ikard.

What's the Catch : Motuc Mosquitor and Webstor

Few days back, I drop in my first post of 2017 with the best buy of the year. I supposed!

From now,  I will do away with the review stuff as I think we have many good reviewers out there for us to enjoy.

After reading my own blog, I should be able to get back to the future without the time machine.

Today I bring you back to the past to February 2017 on my first purchase.

Anyway, who cares about what I bought on February?

Guess only my future self.

Mosquitor and Webstor from the Masters of the Universe Classics.

Both are sought after villains from the classic line of He-Man enemies.

Gone are the play features if you are familiar with this line of action figures and their vintage counterpart but the upgraded designs makes them looks better in any sense we look for in the MOTU figures, when we are a kid back in 1980's. Or you don't even exist yet.

Do you think so?

Happy hunting !

What's the Catch : Wizards Shogakukan Bolshack Dragon

It is 2017 and shame on me to write my very first blog post today. However, I am still in for toys but just that I am lazy into instagram which is very much what everyone is getting into.

Everybody move from platform to platforms and many have left and close their blogs.

Unfortunately, I am the lazy one who left my blog for months. But having said that, I realized that reading through my blog, brings back memories of how I was back in those times through my own writings. It is like a diary to me. Cool. So even nobody is reading, but I still find some daily hits on my blogs, it's worth keeping it.

So here I go again on slow pace.

To start off, I am still collecting and trying to cut down by selling off. As my blog did not show, I have ventured into some Sofubi like Bandai Godzilla and expanding my MOTUC. This year has been slowing and cutting back on my Marvel Legends as the characters are less familiar to me and I am stopping the chase. Guess I have enough of what I want except for some selectively good ones.

I will try to showcase my new collected figures slowly.

Instead of starting with my first purchase figure in 2017, I introduce my first rip off buy for this year - Bolshack Dragon, which I never knew who he is. The only attraction is his big wings and dragon mix of dinosaur features.

He is produced in 2003 and mainly created for kids to play at that time. He has a sturdy built but mine had his battery pack broken and lost. Overall, he is complete with removable shoulder and hip armor flaps. Detail dragon scales. Quality plastics and have some weight to it.

He comes with roaring gimmick and light up right hand but all these cannot work due to the lost battery pack.

With a cheap price tag, I can definitely overlook the flaws.

A common praise....He is Awesome !

With the hunting fun and surprise find plus the price, he is definitely the unforgettable experience toy hunt I got in 2017.

Cheers!

Here is the sneak peak of Bolshack Dragon. See how big he stands besides a 3.25 inch Colossus.

Toys Dairy : True Devils of the Universe

Dear Dairy,

Today I bought in my long awaited Masters of the Universe action figures.

Chance upon an App that trades toys. I type..." Masters of the Universe". Pop out a collector who is eager to sell. Wow! I saw loose figures of Beastman, Mer-man, Trapjaw, Faker and a few more.

Price is not right but I need to ask. No ask no gain.

30 minutes later, a private message from seller. " Negotiable with more figures to run along."

Then came the picking and negotiations. Finally giving in to my weakness, I plunge into the abyss of MOTUC again.

It started with 4 figures, then another 3 and finally, gather up 8 figures which I will release the surprises.

The excitement of purchase comes the decision to let go some of my collection. I have managed to reduced my damage by 50% by selling some toys and freeing some space.

Collection is not only about buying but also to learn to let go and reduce cost, control emotions. It's a package of fun learning of yourself indeed.

May the control be with me.....

Oops, there comes another good deal.......

Baron Zemo teaching a lesson !!!

I have been wanting to have a Baron Zemo and have been holding on until I saw him teaching a lesson to lizard.

Although he is kind of flimsy in structure, with flaws on his hand sculpting coupled with a non-detachable gun, he still spot a good head sculpt and nice rendering of color toning. Came with a detailed spectre which can peg to his fat clumsy right hand.

Nice for a dated figure and in my opinion, a better figure over his son who came out of Hasbro factory last year except for the flaws he carries which new figure has make up for it. Oops !

The Beginning of Predators

Before McFarlane, before Neca, there was Kenner.......who designs and produces the Predators line of action figures.

It is the era when toys are made for fun and a touch of details put into them to instil some level of interest for the adult collectors. The overall build are also meant to take the beating of the kids and weapons and accessories are bigger in an awkward proportions for its size which are usually non-fragile.

Suited with clumsy weapons that fires projectiles, they still preserve a unique charm in them. Time just stuck in the 90's with these guys when you get the hand of them.

No matter how their size proportions are out and how inaccurate they look, they bridge both kids and adults together for play and collection even until today.

Here, I have the Lava Planet Predator, NightStorm Predator and Renegade Predator with Alien from fellow collectors. They each comes with removable masks and who can resists a Predator with a removable mask? It's just too cool to turn away unless you have a face-off with them........

Even with the upgrades being done for them, they are still legendary in their own ways.

The Adventures of Toy Hunting in Christmas Season

With holiday season coming to an end of 2014 and here is my last post for this year.

For this Christmas season, it has been a wonderful time with my nephew and niece visiting.

Nothing beats having to go around picking up toys with them while they promise to keep secrets of your haul into the house. The fun and adventures kicks in when they find thrill through the figures you acquire along th way in the shops and direct dealing with collectors.

They too have their fair share of hunting for their Lego Minifigures in the flea market, hunting and searching for the best deal they can get within their Christmas budget. I almost lose out to their stamina while searching high and low for their minifigures to fill their lego houses.

While mission accomplishes for them, it is my turn to recover and secure my dig.

This time picks mainly circulate around older figures for me which I found toys from Kenner Predators and Small Soldier Punchit together with the MOTU 2000X figures and the newer Neca Predators while adding a Green Goblin baf from Marvel Spiderman series is a great addition for a good price does not hurt. Let's see what other damages have been done !

Wishing all buddies a Happy New Year Ahead !

2014 Haul of Fame : Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TMNT - Movie

With the Ninja Turtles coming back on board with the Nickelodeon cartoon series and the spin of the action figures until the this year's movie since 1990's, fans have gotten a serious roll of action figures to fill their toy desires.

The issuing of classic turtles that has transformed into 6 inches sizes are a real treat and this is one complete set of collection which no turtle fan can turn down. Added with the two sidekicks of Shredder, I just got to relive the fond days of TMNT in bigger sizes. Aren't they going to make a Shredder and Splinter to go along? Seems like it make better money sense to reissue the 1990's movie turtles rather than a Shredder or a Splinter.

Then came the11 inches size turtles from this year's movie, which has very individual characteristics, unlike the classic figures that is basically made from the same body design.

The movie edition went ahead with different body sizes of each turtles and unique outfit cum color for each of them. Putting that together you have a new cool TMNT design which the only setback will be their lack of articulation. No Waist and elbow articulation is enough to put do some decent kung fu stances.

But how often you get each turtle design differently?

They are basically design and made for kids to withstand the harsh kids battling them around and big enough for them to cuddle around.

The big kids might view them as a disappointment but after getting them, they looks really awesome standing together as a team.

There are much hidden details added though lacking in some areas of paint but overall, they are good additions in my opinion and I buy them because they are a team of unique turtles to date.

While I work on a detail post on them, you can awe the heroes in the hard shell for now..Turtle Power !!!

Aliens of Yester Years....!

Going through the era of 80's and 90's are booming trends of exciting movies and couple with interesting toys that even today, people still remember and continue to have new born fans. This is the fatal attractions of them.

As Alien movie sprout out in 1979 follow by sequels of Aliens in 1986, Alien 3 (1992) and Alien Ressurection in 1997, we have been endowed with action figures for the Xenomorph with very interesting features though not movie accurate.

The design of the figures still worth taking a magnifying look even for today's improved standards of toys. When you are in the 90's playing with the Kenner Alien figures, you will awed by it's features and the Alien outlook, forgiving it's non-movie accurate standards. But these design faults which deem unforgiving in this current market by collectors are still very much welcome for the yester years toy.

But movie theme toys design back in the 80's and 90's have a higher play value and they are packed with a play feature in mind for the children. That makes these toys relatively interesting which may seem lame now. And apart from that, design constraints are not as bounded compared to now and you can still spot some clever design which are not accepted in the era due to market design guidelines.

As we progressed forward, we might be degrading in some ways which we never noticed and thinking we have improved in life while we have unwittingly degraded.

Recently, I have chanced upon the Flying Queen Alien and Boar Alien figures from Kenner and decided to purchase them for nostalgic sake but ended up admiring their under-rated sculpting which is screaming for attention but mostly hidden or forgotten.

In terms of size, movie accuracy, they are definitely not in line with current expectations. What they have is the fun and crazy ideas that spawn many of the Alien varieties that we never saw on screen.

For me, these Alien toys are much interesting than the current well-sculpted Alien figures which we have now. Their charm lies on the imagination of the designers and bringing that imagination to the play world.

Sometimes, the world do not need realism, it needs imagination.

Well.. let us look at these gems while reminiscence in the past.

2014 Haul of Fame : The Brady Bunch

Today, I have to introduce some of the hauls which I find over the past months which did not manage to get a limelight. I will try to them a post to address their uniqueness.

For a quick overall, I think it will be interesting to show you a round up group shot.

I have finally complete my Mutant Earth collection with the inclusion of Gallowz and Grippler who are on the right back. Both are super detail figures even for this age.

The Scarecrow and Penguin from the Legends of the Dark Knight series are also joining the same batch of baddies whom I have recruited previously, like Man-Bat and Clayface. These are still great figures to add for Batman fans.

I even managed to get 2 Aliens figures from the Kenner lines which I will showcase them in a post later.

All these figures should give you something to look forward in my posts while Christmas is coming.

Happy Hunting and Happy Holidays my Friends....Stay Happy !

Iron Maiden....The Final Frontier

What is into heavy metal hard rock?

How about mixing Heavy Metal, action figures and Halloween into One ?

You get Iron Maiden... The Final Frontier Cover Art featured Alien creature materialized into action figure by NECA !

Apart from some of my music figures collection, this is one action figure which I can fit him into Space Aliens or Monsters more than a music character.

This is a one cool sculpted figure exemplify from the cover art with a skeletal based framework with a touch of an Alien monster head sculpt that splits part of it's internal martian type brain juice. The back skeletal spine of the figure are very much accurately shown in the video as well. Sweet !

Apart from being scary and colorful figure, which may not be a cup of tea for some collectors, he is a unique figure to get even if you are not an Iron Maiden fan. As I said, he is versatile by costarring as an Alien Monster to add to your monster squad or part-timing during Halloween period for a scare trick. A hardworking value added action figure, you must say. Gets your money's worth !

Well, let's rock on with a little intro from the courtesy of Iron Maiden Final Frontier official video for a kick-ass space adventure before you make your judgement call.

Dark Alliance of Lucifer

Halloween is here and nothing beats the gathering of evil fun in the season and many toy geeks have been churning out Halloween goodies to savage the thirst of all collectors alike.

In this season, I finally got one of my long awaited figures and hitting the time is Lucifer from the Dark Alliance.

He was a collaboration of CHAOS, Eternal Toys, Diamond Select and Art Asylum and what I have is the limited edition of 1000 from the First Shots !!!

What do they mean??? I gather is the first production of 1000 Lucifer which they produced and limited edition is a far cry from reality as there are similar carded versions which carry amazing accessories such as his staff and chain of heads, but for this "special" limited box edition,, he is short changed !

I cannot judge any major difference of him being the first 1000 that makes him any better since I do not have the mass carded version to compare. However, sculpt wise there are no difference and I already start recommending this figure before I complete this post.

The only thing I discovered is that mine does not have any product company imprint on his foot base and I am not sure if this is what the first 1000 figures do not possess.

Well, let us move on to see how amazing this dark angel is.

First off, I like big figures and he definitely have the height of 10 inches tall and bulk that adds to it.

Second, his head sculpt and entire body are detailed with expression and sculpted veins.

Thirdly, paint wash of red and tones of black brings out the details and simplicity of the figure.

Fourth, he got "real" hairs for his beard and long pony tail topping up with 2 brown sculpted horns.

Fifth, amazing sculpting neck chain with individual locket which is very Egyptian design and a leather feel loin cloth covering his assets.

Last but maybe not least, if you got his staff and accessories, it will be a heck of a figure which not many action figures can match even until this day.

Produced in the early 2000, he is still an excellently sculpted action figure for his age and shall see many days to come.

Aliens Power Loader

Anyone who have seen the movie, Aliens, will know the epic scene fight between Ripley and Alien Queen, using the Power Loader.

Released by Kenner toys in 1992, this iconic Power Loader handled by Ripley is a simple yet interesting playable toy. It is closest you can get to mimic the fighting scene during that era and toys are meant for play back then takes on serious battle damage and lost parts.

What I acquire here was passed down from a local collector's childhood collection which happen to go through the challenges. With the missile spent and both side cannons ripped off by Alien Queen (I supposed), what the Power Loader now left intact is the machine itself. I would say it is pretty well kept for it's age and it still have the stickers intact.

The basic concept of having your action figure to be strapped in the loader and able to manipulate the grappling action hands, firing off a missile are pure fun. Only gripe is that the "legs" are not designed as separate movable pieces but rather a simple molded track wheels with no wheels to roll.

The pistons are molded and painted to highlight it's function. Very 90's kind of work. On the size, he is about 8 inches tall and 7 inches wide from it's grapple to grapple ends.

If you do not have Ripley, you can also snap in a 5 inch action figure to try it on. Just like Batman did.

What else can you complain about for a toy like this for play. Other than this, you can pay a hefty price tag for a Hot Toys version or we can wait for some companies to produced a screen accurate design meant for 6 inch action figures. I suppose the day will come soon, just like Ed-209 has been revived.

So for  some flash back memories. Here is the infamous Power Loader. Somehow, it reminds me of Wall-E.......

Prometheus to Aliens

The Iconic Xenomorph has been a great 80's movie, Aliens and it's sequel, which children only have Kenner figures to play around back then. For toy geeks, these are awesome but never have they thought of the day will come to actually see and get movie accurate figures until many have grown out of their younger years. If you survive the test of time and toy geekology process (which I have no idea what is it, Haha), your patience have paid off.

Movie accurate action figures mainly appears only in the early 21st Century designed by McFarlane followed by Neca.

Many have been and will be churned out for the market, which has reduced the excitement for the Xenomorph action figures and we are kind of sick of it, however, the heat still pushes on.

When we have a prequel to Alien......Prometheus in 2012, this strike a little spark again.

No matter how the movie has fared, the action figures designed by Neca, have given a level of excitement for Alien fans. Sounds like toys saved the movie for toy geeks.

Both the Engineer, in pressure suit and chair suit mode from Series 1 design, displayed amazing sculpt which led me to collect them and able to appreciate the toys more than the movie.

Even if you do not watch the movie, being an action figure enthusiast, will make up the ignorance.

If you compares the Pressure Suit Engineer against the Chair Suit Engineer, you can observe that the Pressure Suit Engineer is slightly smaller in size than Chair Suit Engineer. Why? I guess they take into account of the Engineer suiting up in Chair Suit which I think this is detail consideration.

The detailing in both Engineer figures are incredible for his size and to make a plain white base figure takes some challenge on the paint works to highlight the details on the Pressure Suit Engineer. Undeniably, the Chair Suit Engineer's black base paint work have brought out the detailing on the figure.

No matter how many times you watch the reviews online, nothing compares to seeing them in your hands.

In my opinion, both these Engineers are worth getting a stand in your collection even if you are not a die-hard Prometheus fan or just want good figures from the movie line.

Check them out and have fun collecting.
