Toy Viewing : Reservoir Dogs

A 1992 American crime film directed by Quentin Tarantino. Never mind the story or plot if you never knew them but it does make more sense if you know where they came from.

I posted a mono portraits of them to capture the background mood of their style. Now, I shall showcase them in color to you.

All six men uses colored name like, "Mr White", " Mr Blonde", "Mr Pink", "Mr Orange","Mr Brown" (Played by Quentin Tarantino). Wonder why Mr Blue is not in the pack.

Honestly, I did not watch the movie before and only know about this cult classics hit when I saw it in NECA website. Oopss...!

Produced by NECA in 2007, they eventually repackaged them in a boxset.

For me, I got it loose and almost 99.9% complete and why do I get them? I got them because they are in suits and they will make up a pack for my Kill Bill set as one of the gangsters, like Crazy 88 fighters.

Collection Exposed : Mask

Mask - Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. A 1980's cartoon series featuring convertible vehicles that hide their deadly powers underneath the normal form. The transformation is not in the same league as transformers though both are fighting hard for their audiences back then.

Back then, I managed to scrimped on my pocket money just to get my first "Raven" and then a "Thunderhawk" car driven by Matt Trakker. The rest is history.

From toys in this era, you can expect the production comes from Hong Kong, Macau, Mexico and places which we no longer seen being made for toys now except China. This makes toys from the 80's more interesting.

Here I took a simple video to showcase my little collection. Not of very high quality but enough to for you to view comfortably. As you can see all my toys are played with and not mint condition. They show signs of victory and defeat in battles.

What's the Catch? : Wanna Kill Bill?

Who wanna kill Bill?

Yes, Beatrix Kiddo, The Bride codenamed "Black Mamba".

Comes in 2 volumes and so does the action figures produced by NECA. Hopefully, we get volume 3 figures when the third movie is out in 2014. That near???!!!

Anyway, let us enjoy the current two sets done by NECA in 2005.

Weeks ago, I managed to grab hold of both sets at a single deal and just missing one piece of Crazy 88 fighter but make it up with a special edition of Quentin Tarantino fighter. This time, Tarantino get himself disguised as one of the Crazy 88 fighters and created into an action figure again.

If you have more Crazy 88, you can create a scene where Beatrix is surrounded by fighters in the movie. I have included one video (courtesy of ActionfigureExpert) on his display below.

Both sets I gotten already comes with age and yellowing on bubbles seems inevitable. But to me, price is right, toy is good and complete. Who cares about the package. It is meant to protect the toy. Am I right?!!

Figures generally do not have many articulations and poses are moulded to maintain the stance. Amazing accessories and also innovative enough to include fake blood to simulate blood splashes using a pump. However, the blood now turns pink due to age again.

Out of all figures, Go Go has the worse sculpt. It is such a let down for her to turn out to be much less prettier than she should be.

Over here, PaiMei is loose when bought and I eventually took out one of the crazy 88 to play. Am still contemplating if I should tear all out now or keep a a few pieces intact.

Before I can showcase some portraits of them, here they are in package for you to see.

So here they goes......

Volume 1 comes with
1) The Bride
2) Go Go
3) Crazy 88 fighter with Axe
4) Crazy 88 fighter with sword.
5) Crazy 88 fighter Quentin Tarantino (Special Edition)
6) Crazy 88 fighter with sword and moustache ( Which I do not have)

Toy Viewing : Onslaught

Good Monday Morning ! A fresh week start with Onslaught again but in full view.

Arises from the essence of consciousness of Xavier and Magneto, Onslaught is almost invincible.

His thick armor plates reminds me of a crab and more similarity for this version of Onslaught.

Physically he looks like a mutation of crab and some kind of a bug (lady bird???) and he got a bird like pair of legs.

His face resembles Megatron from the first Transformers Movie to me.

What a dynamic combinations.

Oh, He is a BAF  (Build-A-Figure) from the Marvel Legends Onslaught Series 13 produced by ToyBiz in 2006, if you have forgotten.

Toy Viewing : Buffy the Vampire Slayer

A 1997 American TV series about Buffy who is a slayer fights vampires in her new high school of Sunnydale. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy, who is our star figure today.

Did not really follow through the series back then and all I knew later that Buffy got intimate with Angel (who is a vampire). The love part do sounds familiar to those who started with the late 2000 era with Twilight.  For those who do not know Buffy, you have missed the 90's school chick action fighter. Never too late to catch up with her.

Buffy over here is created by Moore back in 1999. She is in the blue jacket version rather the black jacket version.

Her face does not resemble much of Sarah but it is the aura of the figure make you feels like this is Buffy or maybe it is already perceived as her. Her eyes are pretty close and that may answers to the aura of Buffy in the figure.

Considering the era she came from, she is delicate piece which is slim and quality is not that great. Comes with 2 stakes, 1 cross bow with arrows and a "Vampyr" book while adding a base stand for her to pose.

In mint package, I saw it went up a bit especially in the US market where she is still more remembered there compared to here. Only fans care to get her now. Isn't it nice to have a slayer in your pack. Hmmmm...

Upcoming Movie : Three Musketeers

 The Three Musketeers again.......

How many re-make do we have to go through?

I cannot comment much until I seen it and for now, it will just be the trailer for us to judge whether it is worth to drop that money.

However, the last movie made was in 1993. Oh, it is almost 20 years. The show features a hit song " All for Love" by the three great singers ( Bryan Adams, Sting and Rod Stewart). They do make a good threesome for the song.

The 1993 Movie, should bring on some fun and laughter and a sense of righteousness of the musketeers. For old time sake, I included the trailer for all to review.

Flashback : StarCom : The U.S Space Force

Another Flashback time. Let us travel back to the 80's, when cartoons and toys are thriving in craze.

StarCom, a 1980's cartoon series and produces innovative toys back then. Considering toys with automatic motion without batteries. It fascinates every new kid on the block. With a touch of the button...zzzzzz. the cargo bay of the vehicle comes out mechanically.

In addition, it features magnetic features for the figures boots to be attached to the parts of the vehicles which is to simulate gravity utilized in space missions.

For me, I only have the Starmax bomber with Captain Rip Malone, which is kind of a price piece for me. Due to age and play, it has definitely seen it's years of mission. Now it has collected a neat wear from discoloration and rust. I see it as a battle wear though it is no longer displays it's whiteness. It has been customized over time. It is two tone design now and all I did for him is general cleaning and I just leave the stains as it is.

It still have the 4 bombs but the side cannons have decommissioned due to battle damaged.

Do not think there is another just like mine as it brings back fond memories of adventure and childhood silliness.

Come to think of it, Captain Rip is barely 2.5 inches tall. That makes him one of the shortest action figures produced even up until now? But he is definitely the shortest among the popular toys back then.
