Levitation #Superman (Hush version)

How many Superman do we need?

With many versions of Superman designed through DC Direct, Mattel and flooding into other makers, I eventually still love the designs from DC.

And this Superman smitten by Poisy Ivy have decorated with leaves on his neck and hand. No love bite?

The posture is a levitation state of Superman after his battle Batman showing off his torn cape. Cool to have torn cape of Superman sculpted.

He is supported by the rod attached to his back and stuck to a Batman base with stones. It is kind of weak on the stability due to the base size but the levitation trick works fine.

This Superman is on a smaller size compares to other DC Direct Superman and sculpted with an edgy face coupled with red beaming eyes.

I would seriously recommend him as a unique design for Superman for his posture and torn cape with a touch of Poison Ivy on him. Why not!

Here are some fabulous write ups from other fantastic sources.

DC Origins Modern #Superman

Coming from DC Direct 2010 release of DC Origins Superman 2 pack set, I have the Modern Superman locked down for you. Unfortunately, I do not have the 1st Appearance from the same pack but I do have the earlier brighter blue version which I have previously reviewed.

For this Superman, his first grabbing attention is the shiny pinkish red cape, shiny "S" symbol and shiny red boots.

He stands with a slightly hunching back and that makes him looks down. Featuring a thick black eyebrow, he looks stress and strain. Probably after so many setbacks from human ignorance.

He features the basic DC Directs articulations with no accessories.

This is another cool glossy addition to the Superman class.

Ant Superman

Do you know there is an Ant Superman?

With Marvel Ant-Man coming up and getting hot, let us explore the little known Ant Superman in Action Comics #296 where Superman is transformed by Red Kryptonite and assumes the power to communicate with ants. I do not think he can shrink!

His head came as part of the addition in the DC Direct Showcase Superman where you will get 4 sets of interchangeable heads and two pairs of hands. Since the alternate 3 heads are very interesting addition as a Superman collection, I will make it an exclusive post for each individual head sculpt as each shares a unique character even though they belong to a single set.

The articulation is pretty basic for DC Direct figures if you are familiar with them or even possess one of the figures. As for the cape, there is no "S" sign at the back of his cape in this design.I have the regular head Superman shown below and show how all attachments can assemble into an alternate Ant Superman combo!

It is rare to have an interchangeable heads and hands for Superman figure and this should be the only one until today.

The tentacles on the head are removable and articulated for better signals to communicate with Ants? I suppose not. The Ant-Superman is not ultimately great but an interesting addition into the Superman collection. How often do you see alternate Superman characters being made?

So who makes a better ant ambassador? Ant Superman or Ant-Man?

Dark Knight Returns #Superman

A good Superman figure is hard to determine and it is your own to find. However, in the Dark Knight Returns version of Superman by Frank Miller, this is a bulk up Superman with hard straight face features.

And this is one of the many Superman figures that is worth the attention.

As there is another later release by DC Direct in a boxset, the color rendering is different and darker than the first version came out in the standard single box card.

The first version features a brighter blue color of Superman and comes with Batman cowl and the broken arrow of Green Arrow.

I personally liked the color and size of this Superman, he is steady in build and comes with cool accessories where we do not usually get for Superman figures except for a base.

If you like Frank Miller version of Superman or a hunkier Superman, add him to your collection for a change.

The Dark Kryptonian of #Superman

When the Superman movie rises on the silver screen again in 2013, the Man of Steel are resurrected by Mattel under their Movie Masters line of action figures.

This series aims at adult collectors and a price point to match at that time of sale which pulls them away from the reach of regular kids wanna have some fun. Even with the adult collectors marketing label, the figures do packed some serious amount of details to please.

In the series, I have picked up my favorite figures and they came from the dark side.

General Zod, Faora, Black Superman and Jor-El.

General Zod is a competitive fave as he not only looks cool in his Kryptonian armor and comes with a head gear, he is is like Darth Vader in Superman with an added cape. The quality and the build is great and steady. Somehow the skin tone for this series of figures do lack of some shading.

Faora is another good contender in this series but her head sculpt seems to be off due to the size. from an angle, she looks good but not so much from the front. If she were to have a removable head gear and that will be nice addition. Her costume details are well-sculpted but they did the lazy cost cutting part by fixing the weapon on her.

Back suit Superman is a repaint version of the regular blue costume and he do have some details hidden under the black coloring and they are textured. The eyes are red and he have a decent resemblance of the actor, Michael Shannon.

Lastly, Jor-El, he does not have a varied figure and we are stuck with this dark tone blue and bronze armor top combo costume. Details from shoulder to toe and he will look better out of the box. I am not sure of the actual movie shows that his costume have attachments on both sides of his arms to body. He does have good decent resemblance to Russell Crowe in my opinion.

All four figures are nice addition if you are fans of Superman and the movie. I would suggest picking the ones you like from the series.

Happy hunting !

Supergirl to the rescue!

Amongst the few Supergirls that have been released, few make it to the hall of fame in the line but many still welcome another Supergirl to their collection, provided she is not hideous looking.

This is Supergirl from the Return of Supergirl produced by DcDirect in 2006 and one that is quite good in some angles of appreciation.

She possessed some awkwardness in her facial makeup and a little too slender body but her head sculpt with a swaying hairstyle are nicely done.

The paint job is not good as there are many blemishes especially between the yellow and blue color combinations along the rims of her top, wrists and belt area. The "S" sign is painted cleanly in my case.

So far, most Supergirl figures are unique in their own styles, unlike Superman who has a general outlook for most and if you are looking for the one Supergirl, this may not be the ultimate one to get but if you like her style in this design. Why not!

Ultraman is Here !

Expecting the Japanese Kaiju fighting hero but here comes Superman turns evil into Ultraman !

The New 52 action figures from Dc Direct has brought us a very nice figure indeed. This is Ultraman featured in red beaming eyes in battle suffering from battle torn cape and having a rustic look. Superman is always so clean and I like to see some dark side of him in this representation.

The musculine body and blue color tone used is darker. Detail expression of his face and neck strain are sculpted donning his signature hairstyle.

The highlight is his torn cape which I am very pleased and its draping over his shoulder with some tiny mud specks, showing how much fighting he has went through in this universe.

The paint job on his chest symbol and belt are sloppy though.

A strong and nice Superman figure to add to your collection.

Cyborg Superman

In DC Universe, came Cyborg Superman who is complete with the Head & torso of Kilowag (build-a-figure).

Have been trying to get this figure for some time and with patience, he shows up.

I personally like the robotic features that gives him a part man part machine combo. You get both Terminator and Superman smash together! How cool is that!

The highlight of him shall be his head sculpt which is detail in his cyber-genetic face, and you can observed the mechanical sculpt on his right arm and chest while leaving both legs the same human legs.

Overall, you cannot be wrong with a cyborg labelled with Superman in this case.

If Terminator has turned into a Cyborg flying machine like this, Skynet shall extinguish the human race in due time.

Portraits of Toyz : Bizarro

Bizarro is one character which I find interesting amongst the DC villains who is the opposite of Superman. Being a villain, he has many interpretations done and probably due to his weirdness, he has that zombie like appeal that attracts details.

I have a few Bizarro and each dons a different appeal style.

World of Supermans.....

Wishing all a Happy 2015 again.

A New Year and my first post shall begin with Superman for a good super start !

Superman is one of my favorite DC characters and I have a few to share with you after my latest claim for some quirky Superman which I never seen before.

A Lion Superman, A Zombie like with burnt head sculpt Superman and the Superman from Kingdom Come by Alex Ross.

All three Superman carries a unique character during the realm of time they each came from. Each tells a story of their origins but as Superman, they are one awesome superhero.

Who needs a flying Super Lion? Anyone?

Toy Viewing : JLA #Superman

With so many Superman figures around in the market, I am always looking for a iconic figure After looking through many versions from DC Direct, I finally set upon this Superman from the JLA series 1 Superman.

With an interchangeable hand and base to stand on, he also comes with an American flag. That's cool to have too.

As a figure created in 2003, his articulations are still decent except that he does not turn his waist. His joints on mine are pretty loose especially his wrists, elbow and knees. These are presumably a common problem for early DC Direct figures as my first Superman is also having same issues.

The drape part on his cape is nicely sculpted but the "S" symbol is not painted red. Why?

The overall physic of him is very muscularly build as a 6 inch Superman should be and his head sculpt reveals a pleasant expression coupled with his iconic front curvy fringe.

After all, who can miss a man in red underwear flying around !

Movies Screen : Man of Steel

Superman again and again. Now back to square one where he belongs and how he started in search of his inner self.

You can expect similar struggle as in the Dark Knight from Christopher Nolan. The darker style of displaying comic book heroes and realistically to this world adaptation where shows the ugly side of humanities.

Give us all a chance to review this great Superhero movie in all new ways again.

Collection Exposed : Stalking Superman

Superman from the DC Direct " Through the Ages" and in retro form. Previously, I got hold of Bizarro from the DC Origins two pack figures without the other Superman and this Bizarro particularly cool in his retro costume and colours.

Was looking for the 1st Appearance Superman from the Origins but ended up buying this Superman from the four figure pack. This version is more close to the comic version of the 1st Appearance Superman but I do like to have the other version in the Origins, which is of a darker colour.

Anyway, Superman here is fine except that mine has some weak kneel joints, probably fighting with other toy villians. Some colour blemishes here and there

Some fine details on his boots and both fists are clenched. His eyes are shut and I wonder how he gonna fly.

So here he is, looking cool and proud and squarish !!!
